Nicolas Spycher

Nicolas F. Spycher is a researcher (geochemistry) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California, since 1998. Before that he spent ten years in industry dedicated to the remedial investigation of contaminated sites. Nic obtained his B.S. and M.S. from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) and his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon (USA, 1987). His research activities focus on the development of conceptual and numerical models towards understanding water/gas/rock interactions in various subsurface environments. Nic has contributed to a wide range of studies dealing with coupled (bio)geochemical, hydrological, and thermal processes related to nuclear waste storage, geothermal systems, carbon geologic storage, groundwater contamination, and ore deposits. Nic is also one of the developers of the TOUGHREACT reactive transport simulator, and an early contributor to the SOLVEQ/CHILLER geochemical modeling codes.
