Nataly Castillo Ruiz is a reservoir engineer at Contact Energy in New Zealand. Her current focus is on reservoir strategy, numerical modeling, and decarbonization. She started her geothermal journey in 2015 at the GRC conference. Once back in Colombia she started the first GRC student chapter in the country and promoted multidisciplinary direct use projects before moving to Iceland where she did her MSc studies at Reykjavik University on sustainable energy with emphasis on geothermal science and engineering. As part of her time in Iceland she collaborated with Landsvirkjun National Power Company of Icelandfor her MSc Thesis.
She is a highly driven Geoscientist specializing in Geothermal Energy. Her technical experience is in geoscience data integration, from surface and borehole data to the reservoir conceptual and 3D numerical models and long term forecasting. She is an enthusiast for sustainable development. Her interest in looking for spaces to contribute to improve the energy industry has brought her to be part of Organizations like the Colombian Geothermal AGEOCOL and WING. Currently she is part of the WING NZ leadership team with a focus on community engagement.
