Jiann received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University and his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.He started his Sandia career in the remote sensing group before moving to the Geothermal Research department.He has over 15 years in experience in machine design, manufacturing, and drilling-related systems.He has led or participated in multiple drilling-related projects including the development and testing of a High-Temperature Percussive Hammer and developing the Microhole Drilling system for the DOE Geothermal Technologies Office.He is currently co-PI in a high-performance horizontal drilling program and a DOE drilling optimization program.
