David Raymond is a Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories where he has been involved in research and development on a variety of mechanical systems for the last 25 years. His work at Sandia has included development of the Hard-Rock Drilling Facility, research on self-induced bit vibrations, development of controllable damper technology using smart materials, development of advanced drill bits, active simulation of drill bit dynamics, development of high speed drilling systems, and downhole motor development. He currently holds seven patents pertaining to downhole technology. He worked at BDM International and with McDonnell Douglas prior to joining Sandia. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and an Associate Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
