Sai Vamsi Krishna Vissa is a Ph.D. student at Oklahoma State University working in a NAS-GRP funded project titled “Mitigating risks of hydrocarbon release through integrative advanced materials for wellbore plugging and remediation” (Grant no. 200008863), with Dr. Mileva Radonjic, in the department of Petroleum Engineering. His current work is a part of the project and he is working to develop novel cement formulations by incorporating nano-and micron sized particles to enhance cement properties. Currently, the materials that are being studied as cement additives are zeolites. A particular zeolite ferrierite had been characterized extensively as it had shown self-healing property in earlier research related to Geothermal lightweight cement formulation. The study aims to understand the mechanism of this zeolite and optimize the design for wellbore plugging and abandonment applications.
