Zhen Qin is currently a PhD student working with Professor Behnam Jafarpour at University of Southern California, Los Angeles. He has been working as a graduate research assistant in SEES lab since Jan. 2020. His research focuses on two concentrations: (1) energy optimization of geothermal field using deep-learning-based proxy models; (2) applying deep-learning predictive model into the predictions of time-series data from geothermal reservoir. His research has a multidisciplinary approach encompassing geothermal reservoir engineering, deep learning, and optimization. Zhen Qin holds a dual-master’s degree in Thermo-physics Engineering from Tianjin University, China, and in Sustainable Energy Engineering from Reykjavik University, Iceland.
