Richard Alfaro-Diaz

Dr. Richard Alfaro-Diaz (Los Alamos National Lab) (2019 Ph.D., Geological Sciences, University of Texas at El Paso) is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Geophysics Group of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Division at LANL. He is a seismologist with expertise in micro-seismicity, seismic hazards, and source discrimination. His research at Los Alamos has focused developing novel seismic techniques to extract new information about processes and properties of the Earth’s crust, with a focus on improving the ability to quantify seismic hazards on fault systems, in both natural and anthropogenetic environments. Dr. Alfaro also has experience with subsurface imaging, and modelling earthquake cycles.
